Now Ibiza holiday reps have got a certain image preordained upon them from programs like Ibiza uncovered and Is Harry on the Boat but the reality of working as a representative for an Ibiza package holiday company is quite different and reps can be useful:

  • If its your first time get them to share tips and show you around on a night out
  • Get them to find you discounted club tickets
  • Use them to complain to the hotel about any problems with your room
  • Get them pissed and go with them to the best parties which only workers and veterans know about

Holiday protection

No we’re not talking about the durex variety here! When you book an Ibiza package holiday through a reputable agent (like the ones you’ll find on this site) they will be ATOL licenced meaning if they sell you air travel and the airline goes bust, you’ll be covered. Also you’ll find most travel agents are members of ABTA which ensures some level of professional standards among travel agents and tour operators. If you’re not booking a package holiday don’t let this protection, or the lack thereof put you off, just make sure you have adequate protection whatever you book, either through your credit card or insurance company.

What to look for in an Ibiza package holiday

Flights

At around 2 ½ hours flight time from London to Ibiza you don’t need to be overly concerned about the airline you fly with, if you’re looking for a cheap holiday to Ibiza you need to be prepared to travel on a low cost airline. That said, the flights operated by the lager travel agents as part of Ibiza package holidays, like First Choice, Thomson and Thomas Cook are far better than budget carriers like Easyjet and RyanAir.

Hotel

The first thing to look at is board basis. Half-board, meaning breakfast and evening meals are included can save some cash while on holiday but only if you use it. Similarly if you’re not planning on getting up until 3pm you probably won’t get much value from bed and breakfast so go for hotel only instead. All-inclusive Ibiza holidays (LINK) might be a bit more expensive but as they will include drinks you might be able to drink some value out of it.

Remember full-board and all-inclusive are not the same. Full board will mean breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant but will not give you inclusive drinks at the bar. If you’re more a drinker than an eater, go for all inclusive instead.

Transfers

Depending on where you’re staying airport transfers to your hotel will cost you 20-50EURO in a taxi so its worth looking for holiday packages which include 2 way airport transfers. If these aren’t included the travel agent will arrange them for you but find out the cost first and work out if its cheaper to share a cab or pay the transfer charges.
